Not sure how we are going to fit ALL OF THIS into two suitcases and two backpacks! For those following our trip and for my RQ buddies who will be there with us- here is our schedule:
9/9 Leave for Hong Kong
9/10 Arrive
9/11 & 9/12 Hong Kong touring
9/13 Leave for Nanchang and meet Lucy that afternoon!!!
9/14-19 Nanchang/ Jiangxi Provence
9/19 Leave for Guangzhou
9/20 -9/24 Guangzhou for all appts.
9/25 Leave for Hong Kong and then Home!
So many outfits, so little room! It's supposed to be "boiling" hot in Nanchang and Guangzhou right now. Think of packing for a trip to a large city with tropical type weather, throw in a heap of humidity & a healthy dose of smog. Now I can handle the humidity for sure. Growing up in the deep south we are quite used to walking outside at 8:00 in the morning to 90 degree air so thick you could drink it with a straw. Oh and to make it even more challenging to pack clothes for Lucy, also know that at any point when you are walking with your baby in public in China you may be approached by the "Little old Lady Fashion Police." These little Chinese grandmothers will come up and inspect your child to make sure they have enough warm clothes on so the baby won't catch cold. The babies are not used to air conditioner at all but even when outside in 95 degree weather they are expected to be dressed more for a fall football game than the beach. I will bring layers! Those little old ladies must be on to something.
Note the boxes of Cheerios! China moms I will post my hotels on our March site. You'll know where to find me if you start running low!

best of luck packing for this wonderful trip. Pack once and then remove half aof what you have packed. We were there in July/Aug 2007 and never encountered the clothing police. We just carried a lightwieght blanket with us for any place that had air conditioning.

For comparison, we are bringing pictures of Greg working in Lian's room to show you in Chicago. The nursery is not set up. The walls are not painted. We are not posting the photos on our blog because it is too embarrassing. Yes, we have been waiting almost 4 years and waited until the last minute! Seriously, we will not know what Lian's room looks like until we get back from China when the baby fairies have completed their work. Cannot wait to meet you in Chicago!
Best wishes with your journey! I've been talking with Mary Beth over the last few weeks from the jianswikids yahoo group. She's bringing a before and after picture of our daughter, Josie. We traveled in March of 2008. I can't wait to follow both your journeys. It's a trip of a lifetime.
If you haven't left yet and are still trying to cram clothes in STOP! Don't bring so many outfits. The things in China are so cheap and really cute too. We brought only 3 changes of clothes for our daughter and bought just a few things there. We just sent alot of laundry, but it was so cheap.Shoes are also very cheap!!!!If I missed you and you got everything in OK then disrefard this and have a wonderful trip. I am a RQ lurker and can't wait to follow your blog!!!
